It wasn't all pretend on the set of “ER.”

Julianna Margullies, one of the cast members on the hit medical drama, claims that she and co-star George Clooney may not have been completely acting while filming their on-screen romance on the series.

The two stars played Carol Hathaway and Doug Ross, one of the hottest couples on television during the show’s first several seasons, Today reports.

"That can't happen if you don't have a crush on each other," Margulies, 54, told People magazine referring to her character’s large fan base. “And with George and me, it was so organic.”

According to Margulies, Clooney, 59, now married with two children, is not only a sweetheart on the show, but has the same characteristics in real life.

“He could not have been kinder or sweeter,” she said of her first meeting with the heartthrob, adding, “I was just supposed to be a guest star, No. 39 on the call sheet.”

"I followed and watched how he conducted himself on the set,” she continued. “When you create an environment that people feel safe in, then you do your best work. And George taught me that, I felt so safe with him. I mean, I never thought, 'Well, why would I be in the bathtub and he's coming in?' I was like, 'OK, I'll be in the bathtub. Yeah, great.'"

Margulies wrote a book titled “Sunshine Girl: An Unexpected Life” that included reflections on her time on the NBC show, which aired from 1994 to 2009. She plans to send George Clooney his own advanced copy.

"I literally just was emailing with George,” the 54-year-old told People, “because I said, 'I've written this book and you're in it, and it's not a tell-all, it's just that I have to give credit where credit is due and you should have it. And where do I send it, under what name and what country?'"

The actress also plans to send copies to other notable “ER” alums, including Golden Globe winner Noah Wyle, and Eriq La Salle, who appeared as Darryl in the hit 1988 comedy “Coming to America” alongside Eddie Murphy.

“Everyone's been so responsive and kind and loving, and it's overwhelming to be honest with you," she said. "They'll be my other family for the rest of my life for sure."

The whole cast is set to reunite in celebration of Earth Day. The Stars in the House reunion will air on YouTube on Thursday, April 22 at 8pm ET.
