ST. LOUIS (KMOX) -- The Koman Group has another development proposed for the city's central corridor.
It's a $50 million, seven -story, 200-unit apartment complex at 4545 Laclede Ave., a block away from the likes of Whole Foods and Shake Shack.
"Our efforts have been for some years now to try and make the Central West End the most car optional or least car dependent neighborhood in the region. By increasing the density to 200 units, this is another important step."
Alderman Joe Roddy says the more people on the sidewalks, the better for getting stores to open.
"The more that they can walk to the retailers, as opposed to driving, makes everything work better. The retailers need less parking and soforth," he said.
Koman previously developed the Chroma residential building on Manchester in the Grove and is working on an office building in Cortex.
