ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — KMOX Sports Director Tom Ackerman spoke with Hall of Famer Ozzie Smith Friday afternoon prior to Game 1 of the NLCS between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Washington Nationals.
The two discussed manager Mike Shildt, who Smith said is a mild-mannered, easy-going guy with a drive to compete. Shildt had his team prepared from the beginning of the season, and eventually, players have to play. They are now playing well for him.
Smith also mentioned that Tommy Edman has been one of the biggest keys to the Cardinals’ success. Smith says Edman has a high baseball IQ.
