Backstoppers steps in to help fallen St. Louis County officer's family

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — Backstoppers is stepping in to help the family of the St. Louis County Police officer killed in a car accident last week.

James "Mitch" Ellis Jr., 49, died after his car was struck head-on by someone trying to pass a semi on Route 159 in Illinois.

Officer Ellis is survived by his wife and five children.

Upon the death of a first responder, Backstoppers will immediately give the family a $10,000 check, with more assistance to follow.
