ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The Miami Marlins may want to back on off their mega-shift strategy against St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter after the move he pulled off, Monday night.
The 33-year-old came to bat in the fifth inning with the only player on Miami's left side of the field being more than 200 feet from home plate – so he took advantage. After already hitting a solo home run in the third inning, he pulled off the highlight of the night and bunted the ball to the left side.

By the time the pitcher Elieser Hernandez fielded it in the outfield grass, Carpenter was coasting into second with his 11th double this season.

— FOX Sports: MLB (@MLBONFOX) June 18, 2019Carpenter came around to score as the next batter, Paul DeJong singled to give St. Loius a 2-0 and he explains after the game, a bunt double wasn't too surprising to him.
"I knew it was possible to get the double," Carpenter said. "It's a good feeling. I can't deny that. If you hit left-handed in this league, they're going to shift you."
He raised his averae by nine points, going 3-4 at the dish with three runs scored in the 5-0 win.
