ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A Vinita Park man is jailed on $250,000 bond, accused of killing a man during a Friday morning carjacking, then leading police on chase that ended with a crash.

Twenty-year-old Joshua Harper was driving the car of victim Arthur Hodges when it crashed at Goodfellow and Maple in the city of St. Louis, more than five hours after the murder took place in Riverview.

The incident comes after two women were killed in separate accidents in the city of St. Louis this week -both involving cars fleeing police hitting their vehicles in intersections.

St. Louis County Police Sgt. Ben Granda tells KMOX News, in this case the pursuit was not only justified but necessary, "We've got somebody driving the vehicle of a homicide victim, just hours afer the fact. That is something we have to pursue. We have to get that individual into custody."

Harper is charged with one count of 2nd-degree murder, one count of 1st-degree robbery, 2 counts of assault, 2 counts of armed criminal action, and one count of resisting arrest.
