ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — Embattled Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner can breathe a little easier, after a special grand jury investigating alleged perjury by her team during the Eric Greitens case disbands without issuing any new charges.
The panel, which had been meeting for months and had already been given extra time, officially expired Monday at 5 p.m. without any more indictments.
Several weeks ago, the grand jury did indict one member of Gardner's team — former FBI agent William Tisaby — accusing him of lying under oath during a deposition in the Eric Greitens case.
Sources tell KMOX that Gardner is not out of the woods yet, as a new grand jury could be seated to go over existing evidence.
Gardner's office did not have a statement at this time, and the special prosecutor was not immediately available for comment.
During the 2018 scandal, Greitens' team accused Gardner of suborning perjury, or standing by while Tisaby made false statements under oath. Gardner has denied the allegations.
Gardner charged Greitens with invasion of privacy in February 2018, alleging he took a semi-nude photo of a woman during a 2015 extramarital affair, without consent.Charges were eventually dropped, but Greitens resigned in June.
