(KMOX) - Authorities in the Coachella, California area are asking for the public's help in identifying a woman shown on camera throwing a bag filled with seven tiny 3-day-old puppies into a dumpster behind an auto parts store over the weekend.
Surveillance caught the woman dumping the pups into the dumpster. They were discovered around an hour later by a man rummaging through the trash, saving them from the over 90-degree weather.
"There is no excuse for dumping puppies," said animal service commander Chris Mayer. "Especially in today's age when we or other shelters would be willing to get these animals to foster parents or rescue partners. This was a shameful act."
