ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Attorneys for a pro football star with St. Louis area roots claim their client is being extorted.

A security guard in Las Vegas announced Friday that he's pursuing battery charges against John Burroughs High School alum Ezekiel Elliott.

The NFL commissioner met with the Dallas Cowboys running back after the May incident where Elliott shoved Kyle Johnson to the ground.

Roger Goodell decided no punishment was needed from the league, and Elliott issued an apology.

On Saturday, the NFL Network's Ian Rappoport obtained a statement from St. Louis lawyer Scott Rosenblum of Elliott's legal team.

It alleges Elliott has been the target of extortion over the past several weeks, and Johnson's filing of a criminal complaint is the latest attempt.

Spoke to Frank Salzano, one of #Cowboys RB Zeke Elliott’s football agents. He sent me the following statement about Elliott being the “target of extortion.” pic.twitter.com/8cv65HrjoJ
