ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - It was a "very difficult and somber moment" at the North County Police Cooperative as the family and close friends of slain officer Michael Langsdorf went to visit his police cruiser memorial for the first time.
Here's how the police department's Facebook post described the moment:
"Officer Langsdorf's family and friends visited his memorial this morning for the first time. It was a very difficult and somber moment. Our hearts and prayers continue to be with them during these difficult times. Thank you to everyone for your support."
Langsdorf was killed Sunday afternoon in the St. Louis suburb of Wellston. He was a 40-year-old father of two.
Arrangements for Langsdorf were announced this week, with visitation on Sunday at Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary in St. Louis, from noon to 6 p.m. The funeral will happen Monday at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis at 10 a.m., followed by his burial at Resurrection Cemetery.
Bonette Kymbrelle Meeks, 26, was charged Monday with first-degree murder, armed criminal action, unlawful possession of a firearm and resisting arrest. Meeks is jailed without bond and does not yet have a listed attorney.
