BELLEVILLE, Ill. (KMOX) - A St. Louis-area family is asking for help from the community to find a young boy's prosthetic leg after it was stolen out of their car.
Karen Stephens posted on Facebook, hoping the someone could find and return her grandson's leg, which she described as having a yellow hip area with minions on it and the foot has a red tennis shoe.
The mother, Brie Rainey says the leg is an expensive, custom-made prosethic that could take some time to replace.
Both Rainey and Stephens spoke to KMOX, saying they have been looking in dumpsters and trash cans for the leg, since it was stolen Thursday night. She says their car was one of a few that was broken into, Thursday night.
Stephens says the leg was inside a child-size black backpack.
