NEW YORK (KMOX) -- The Blues are in, but they want more.
Namely, they'd like to have more consistent play after losing a lead to the New York Rangers last night, a 4-2 loss at Madison Square Garden. In spite of Vladimir Tarasenko's 30th goal of the season -- and 46 shots on goal as a team -- the Blues watched a 2-0 lead evaporate in the second and third periods.
The Blues began the night needing a point to secure a position in the 2019 Stanley Cup playoffs. But paired with Arizona's 3-2 shootout loss to the Colorado Avalanche, the Blues officially clinched a playoff spot.
Currently in fifth place in the Western Conference with 90 points (tied with Vegas), the Blues are four points behind Winnipeg and Nashville for the top spot in the Central. A division title (and the No. 2 position in the West) is not out of the question... but with only five games remaining on the schedule, it will take a strong finish to have a chance.
