ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - It seems like this flooding around St. Louis and its neighboring towns is just going to be round one. A National Weather Services' Hydrologist says we will see new crests, possibly higher than these recent levels, in eight to 10 days.
Because more rain is expected across the Midwest this week, National Weather Service Hydrologist Mark Fuchs says the river levels could change again significantly, depending on how much rainfall we get. He says parts of eastern Kansas could get up to 5-inches of rain by Friday, and that parts of Iowa and Missouri could get about 3-inches.
"It's going to be up in that realm, it's possible it could be higher or maybe a little below, but right around where we're at now in places like Grafton, in places like St. Louis itself the river is going to be very close at least," Fuchs says.
As for the On Wheels Storage lot, which called for all of its 700 RV's to be removed by customers as quickly as possible after the Elm Point levee breach, the owner tells KMOX all but 20 vehicles have been safely removed.
