JERSEY CITY, N.J. (KMOX) — After police arrested and charged a 33-year-old man for the murder of a New Jersey woman, news has surfaced that the suspect was in the U.S. illegally and was deported twice before.

Authorities deported Jorge Alberto Rios-Doblado to his home country of Honduras in 2003 and again in 2004, however, he returned to the States sometime after that.

According to the New York Post, “(Immigration and Customs Enforcement) put a detainer on Rios-Doblado, who had no prior criminal record, cops said, and he will be deported yet again.”

If found guilty of the crime, Rios-Doblado is required to serve his sentence before leaving U.S. soil. Sentences for murder can be as long as life behind bars.

Hudson County is hosting a 5K fundraiser in the name of the victim, Carolina Cano, who was raped, strangled and drowned in a nearby lake while jogging around Jersey City’s Lincoln Park March 24.
