FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (RADIO.COM) - The voice of CBS Sports, Jim Nantz says he has no notes when he calls golf. That's unlike basketball or football where there's stacks of papers with player information on them. He says that's because in golf, he wants to make his calls directly from his heart and his mind and "feel it."
There are few broadcast calls which gave him the emotions that Tiger Woods' win at the 2019 Masters Tournament did. He explained how he didn't know exactly what to say when Woods sank the final putt on No. 18, but Nantz knew one word he wanted to use – "glory."
“I knew I wanted the word glory because I was looking at a man who had a new life, had won his family and an Taligent of fans and a remade man that it appeared to me that had found glory in his life. Which is far more meaningful than just winning a golf tournament.”
