ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — An attorney for Planned Parenthood asks a judge to order the state of Missouri to renew the license of its Central West End abortion clinic.
The license expired Friday, but Judge Michael Stelzer has kept the clinic open termporarily to hear more arguments.
At a hearing today, Planned Parenthood attorney Jamie Boyer asked the judge to rule that a regulation being used by the state health department to deny the licence renewal conflicts with state law and should be ruled invalid.
Dr. Randall Williams denies that the regulations have been "politicized " to oppose abortion rights.
He says there are serious health concerns for women at the clinic, but declined to elaborate, saying it will all come out in court.
The judge has yet to issue any ruling.
