MILWAUKEE, Wisc. (KMOX) — After Anheuser-Busch jabbed at Miller Lite and Coors Light over the use of corn syrup in its Bud Light commercial that aired during the Super Bowl, MillerCoors has come back with a lawsuit against the St. Louis-based beer company.

In a Wisconsin federal court Thursday, MillerCoors sued AB claiming it launched a misleading ad campaign to boost sales of its own product.

According to the documentation, AB conducted studies to find that consumers do not understand the difference between corn syrup — commonly used in beer fermentation — and high-fructose corn syrup — a sweetener often used in soft drinks. MillerCoors alleges that AB capitalized on consumers’ lack of knowledge and failed to inform the public of the difference.

MillerCoors stated in the lawsuit, “there is no corn syrup (or [high-fructose corn syrup>) in the final glass, can, or bottle of Miller Lite or Coors Light that consumers ultimately drink.”
