"Believe me, there were a lot of farmers that saw (it) because my phone blew up," Jon Doggett, CEO of the National Corn Growers Association, told KMOX's Michael Calhoun. "Our farmers are having a tough time right now. Corn prices are historically low, and to go ahead and slam corn farmers at the Super Bowl...I didn't know there was corn syrup in beer anyway!"

The St. Louis-based National Corn Growers Association tweeted at Anheuser-Busch that they're right down the road.

.@BudLight America’s corn farmers are disappointed in you. Our office is right down the road! We would love to discuss with you the many benefits of corn! Thanks @MillerLight and @CoorsLite for supporting our industry. https://t.co/6fIWtRdeeM

Doggett says A-B responded privately and a phone call between the two was scheduled to take place today.

"We want to have a conversation with them and find out what was important about having this ad at a time when a lot of our partners are having a really tough time," Dogget said of the meeting.

The National Corn Growers Association has a corn growers board meeting scheduled for this week, and Dogget hopes an Anheuser-Busch representative is present.
