28,000 predicted for Battlehawks home opener

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) -- Downtown St. Louis is getting ready for the return of professional football -- and apparently, tens of thousands of fans are too.America's Center reports tickets are still selling fast for the Feb. 23rd BattleHawks home opener at the Dome."I think the way the public is receiving the XFL is just a prime example that this is a sports city," says Matt Dewey, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the America's Center complex. "It's a sports town that loves its athletes, love its organizations and it's truly embracing the XFL."

The game could sell out -- Dewey anticipates selling 28,000 tickets, enough to fill the lower bowl."When you look at the St. Louis market compared to all the other XFL markets, we're leading all their analytics, all their sales, everything they could possibly measure... St. Louis is exceeding it," Dewey says.

If the lower bowl does sell out though -- that's it. BattleHawks Director of Communications Brian Stull tells KMOX there are currently no plans to open the Dome's upper bowl, which could hold an additional 39,000 plus. The BattleHawks host the New York Guardians Sunday, Feb. 23 at 2 p.m.Additional editing by Alex Degman© 2020 KMOX (Entercom).
