Texas priest charged with sexually assaulting 50 children arrested in Missouri

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo (KMOX) - A Dallas priest accused of abusing as many as 50 children has been arrested in Jefferson County. Richard Thomas Brown, 78, was found Wednesday on a property in the town of Dittmer, about 40 miles southwest of St. Louis.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit obtained by Dallas TV station WFAA, Brown molested a girl he met at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Plano, Tx. The girl was between the ages of 6 and 14 between the years of 1989 and 1996 when the molestations occurred, reports WFAA.

Brown was the subject of an investigation after the Dallas Catholic Diocese named him on a list of credibly accused priests last year. He's also been accused in dozens of other cases.

Brown was found in Missouri on land owned by the Catholic-group, Servants of the Paraclete. The group's mission is to provide a- "safe and supportive environment for the rehabilitation and reconciliation of priests and religious brothers." The Missouri sex offender registry shows several sex offenders registered at that Dittmer address.
