
EAST ST. LOUIS (KMOX) -- Illinois American Water has lifted the boil order that's been in effect since Wednesday, August 28 for a large portion of the Metro East. It affected customers that the utility served directly, as well as those in "sale-for-resale" communities, where the company provides the water but the municipality provides the distribution.A statement from the company issued Thursday night says the boil order has been lifted in the following communities: Belleville, East St. Louis, Centreville, Brooklyn, Fairmont City, Sauget, Shiloh, Washington Park, Alorton, parts of Cahokia, Swansea, and the townships of Canteen, St. Clair, Stookey and Smithton.
