ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Generations of the St. Louis Blues family are together for the NHL All-Star Weekend in St. Louis. You've got Blues legend Keith Tkachuk now a member of the front office staff, there's a former Blues fan favorite, now with the Washington Capitals, T.J. Oshie, five current members of the Blues participating in the NHL All-Star Game and St. Louis natives Brady and Matthew Tkachuk participating in their first career All-Star Games.
Matthew, 22, and Brady, 20, were big topics of conversation at the media day on Thursday. The younger brother was an injury replacement and says he found out on Wednesday that he needed to pack his bags and get to St. Louis. He says he got the call while at Señor Frog's in the Bahamas.
Blues players such as David Perron and T.J. Oshie remembered the Tkachuk's when they were the youngsters in the Blues locker room. Matthew told media that those were two of his favorite guys to hang out with as a kid and says Perron often joined them in mini hockey games.
There's a "legendary story" about the brother fighting in the wives room at Enterprise Center (then known as the Scottrade Center), which resulted in Brady hitting his forehead on a couch and one of the Blues trainers had to "give his stitches or taped him up or something."
