ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A wall of water was shooting from a hillside next to westbound Interstate 270 near West Florissant Ave. on Tuesday morning. It looked like a geyser from one of MoDOT's traffic cameras.

"If you need a free car wash head that way because it's really gushing," KMOX traffic reporter Rodger Brand said just before 7 a.m. The water was turned off about an hour later.

Wow! Water is shooting into the air on the right side of westbound 270 past West Florissant and causing a jam. #stltraffic pic.twitter.com/u1tBrw5Ptf

Brand estimated it was shooting at least 20-feet in the air as it could be seen clearing the tops of tractor-trailers passing by. Traffic in the area of north St. Louis County was slow as the two right lanes were closed.

Yes, that’s a geyser shooting into the air alongside westbound 270 west of West Florissant. Stay out of the right lanes, unless you need your vehicle washed! @kmoxnews #stltraffic pic.twitter.com/XcdqkRPBOV
