ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Less than 24-hours after we learn when the 2020 MLB season will begin, we have our first major injury report. St. Louis Cardinals pitcher John Brebbia had Tommy John surgery and will in all likelihood miss the 2020 season.

It was announced by President of Baseball Operations John Mozeliak during a video conference call with media on Wednesday afternoon.

Mozeliak says the 30-year-old had the surgery in St. Louis three weeks ago.

Brebbia has been as consistent a reliever as St. Louis has seen over his last three seasons. He's had a 3.14 ERA and 1.10 WHIP in that time.
