Teenager charged in double shooting at Galleria mall

RICHMOND HEIGHTS, Mo (KMOX) - UPDATE 7 p.m. Thursday July 23: The man shot and killed yesterday at the Galleria Mall has been identified.Jaquan Steed, 21, of Florissant died and another man was seriously injured when Jaron Lemmitt, 18, is accused of opening fire in the northwest corner of the mall.Lemmitt faces second degree murder, first degree assault and two counts of armed criminal action.He's being held on a $1 million cash only bond.Late Wednesday night, St. Louis County Police said they had a person of interest in custody.

Update on Homicide in the City of Richmond HeightsThe person of interest has been identified and taken into custody without incident. He is an 18-year-old male.The investigation remains very active.More info will be disseminated as it becomes available.

St. Louis County Police have confirmed that one man is dead and another was shot at the St. Louis Galleria mall. They say the shooting stemmed from a dispute between two groups of people. 

Police say they need to talk to people who were inside the mall when it happened so they can piece together what happened. They're still searching for suspects. 

#Breaking: We can confirm that two people have been shot at the Galleria Mall. At this time, we do not consider this an active shooter incident. The investigation is fluid and we will provide details as necessary. Avoid the area.

Police closed the mall due to an investigation on Wednesday afternoon just before 1 p.m.

Police say a male in his early 20's died at the scene and one victim was transported to a local hospital for "life-saving treatment" and is expected to recover.

Our department is on the scene of the shooting at the Galleria Mall with the City of Richmond Heights and several police municipalities. The Galleria Mall is closed. Please stay clear of the area.

Police say they are attempting to identify a "Person of interest" and released a photo on Twitter.

Police say multiple suspects are involved and that the shooting was a result of two different groups of people getting into an altercation.

A worker in the mall tells KMOX News he heard gunshots near an escalator.
