ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — Christopher Columbus is staying put in Tower Grove Park. The park board has ruled the controversial statue of the explorer will remain near the park's entrance.
A commission was formed to discuss the future of the statue. It was made up of three Native American representatives, two Italian-American representatives, and people from the Missouri History Museum, St. Louis Art Museum, the National Park Service, Black Lives Matter, and the "activist community."
The statue has been a part of Tower Grove Park for over 130 years.
