Dr. James Wedner is the director of the Center for Asthma and Allergy at Washington University School of Medicine -- and Dr. Fred Buckhold is a SLU Care general internist at SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital.
New numbers detailing the state of New York's fatal COVID-19 cases shows only 5% of victims had asthma.
Dr. Wedner says previously it was thought asthmatics were at higher risk for severe illness from coronavirus. But he says that appears not to be the case.
He says asthmatics need to, however, continue the same precautionary measures everyone else is adhering to these days -- but also should continue taking their steroid drugs.
He also tells us how to determine whether we are suffering from an allergy or possible COVID symptoms.
