ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - It was certainly a birthday celebration to remember for this south St. Louis County hospital patient. On his 68th birthday, he was sent home after sending three weeks at Mercy Hospital South due to a COVID-19 infection.
Bill, preferring only to be identified by his first name, was greeted by his wife and family at the door after dozens of hospital employees sang him "Happy Birthday."

Mercy South calls in a "Code Sunshine" which allows co-workers to celebrate with COVID-19 patients as they leave the hospital.
Bill was on a ventilator in ICU for two weeks due to coronavirus. Ironically, the day he was admitted to the hospital was his daughter's birthday, April 2.
