ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Investigators are trying to determine if suspects who were on a "most-wanted" list for a murder in Alabama and a kidnapping and assault Tennessee, are linked to a triple murder in the metro east.
Brady Witcher and Brittany McMillan were found and taken into custody Thursday night at the Days Inn hotel off N. Hanley Road in Hazelwood, Mo. They were on the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations' Most-Wanted list for "no fewer than four homicides, the kidnapping of at least three people and that they had stolen a number of vehicles during the weeklong crime spree," according to the Tennessean.
They're both charged with killing a woman northeast of Birmingham, Ala. this past weekend. They're also accused of shoplifting at a Clarksville, Tenn. Walmart, then breaking into an apartment and forcing the residents into a closet after one of them was stabbed.
The couple was tracked by investigators to the hotel, then the Hazelwood Police Department, St. Louis County Police Special Response Unit and the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force took them into custody without incident.
Now, the Major Case Squad is trying to determine if the two were involved in the murders of three people whose bodies were found Thursday night in Bethalto, Illinois. The bodies of a 59-year-old woman and 32 and 30-year-old men, were found after Hazelwood Police asked Bethalto officers to check on the occupants of a home in the 300 block of Mill St.. The victims' names, and the causes of their deaths, have not been released.
