TV GUIDE: We shouldn't be surprised Breaking Bad is returning to Netflix

HOLLYWOOD (KMOX) — Breaking Bad is making a comeback.

Sure, AMC has its prequel series Better Call Saul, featuring the misadventures of bus bench lawyer Saul Goodman. However, fans who have missed Aaron Paul's portrayal of Jesse Pinkman got a treat this weekend, when Netflix released its trailer for El Camino: A Breaking Bad Story. You can watch it below.

The movie appears to follow the story of Pinkman after the events of Breaking Bad's finale. In the teaser, one of Pinkman's allies, Skinny Pete, is in interrogation and presumably being grilled on Pinkman's whereabouts. And that's literally all Netflix has told the media about the plot of this movie, which comes out October 11th.

But why is Breaking Bad, an AMC show, releasing its movie on Netflix instead of the network it called home?

TV Guide's Matt Roush tells KMOX's Debbie Monterrey that, at least in part, its a nod to the streaming platform that made it famous.

"When Breaking Bad began, it was very low-rated on AMC and it was a big, risky show. But once it began to stream on Netflix, that's when people started to notice it take off in the ratings."
