Correction: The U.S Attorney’s office now says “only a few” of the 14 named in the suppressed indictment are connected to civil unrest.
ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A federal grand jury in St. Louis has charged 14 people and some of those have been charges for committing crimes during street demonstrations that took place in June. The U.S. attorney took a look at cases against more than 150 individuals who were reportedly involved in illegal activities amid demonstrations.
Protests in the St. Louis area were sparked by the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis in late May and the incident of a Florissant Police detective ramming his SUV into a fleeing suspect.
The names of those indicted have not yet been released because this is a suppressed indictment to give law enforcement the element of surprise to go door-to-door to make arrests.
