TROY, Mo. (KMOX) -- Two federal inmates are being treated for injuries after escaping from the Lincoln County Jail, carjacking a vehicle and leading police on a chase before crashing Monday night.
Troy police say Kurt Wallace, 26, and James Flannel, 38, escaped shortly after 8:00 Monday night using "a makeshift saw from broken parts of an electric hair clipper, which was used to weaken a metal restraining bar" according to a release.
They carjacked a 58-year-old man on Dunn Lane -- police started a pursuit when OnStar tracked the car to I-70 in St. Charles County. Wallace and Flannel reached speeds of 100 miles an hour before crashing and flipping on I-70 near Hanley. The two were taken to a St. Louis hospital where they admitted to the escape and to the carjacking.
