(KMOX) - Illinois residents who want to vote by mail in November, should request their ballot by October 19 and return it by October 27. That's according to Senator Dick Durbin, who offered the advice after meeting with postal service officials.
Not a concern, according to Glass, is the post office's ability to handle the ballots. "Here is what he said," says Durbin, quoting Glass. "'We have plenty of capacity at the Postal Service. The election mail represents two to five percent of the total volume of mail.' He went on to say, 'We don't have any concerns about capacity.'"
Durbin says Glass also told him that there will be no issues on overtime and if the post office needs additional equipment, it will have it.
