ST. LOUIS (KMOX) -- Mayor Lyda Krewson says she's sorry for what allegedly happened to undercover officer Luther Hall the night of Sept. 17, 2017."The entire Stockley incident and all the protests that followed from that... it was a sad day for our city," Krewson told reporters. "I'm sad and I'm sorry Luther Hall was hurt."Krewson is responding to Hall's lawsuit, which accuses his fellow officers of beating and kicking him when he was arrested that night along with other protesters in downtown St. Louis. A separate class action suit seeks to represent all 123 people arrested that night."I don't know how that case will work out in court," Krewson said when asked how much taxpayers could be asked to pay. "I wouldn't speculate on whether it's a significant exposure or not, I just think that's beyond the bounds of what I'm able to talk about."The city sets aside $6 million a year to settle lawsuits, but the comptroller says the potential price tag for the lawsuits surrounding the Jason Stockley protests of 2017 could be in the "tens of millions" of dollars.© 2019 KMOX (Entercom).
