(KMOX) — Plant-based burgers may soon come to McDonald's menus, with the fast-food giant testing Beyond Meat patties at locations in Canada.
Food & Wine says 28 restaurants in Southwestern Ontario will get the new P.L.T. starting on Sept. 30, with the trial lasting 12 weeks.

September 26, 2019 Burger King, White Castle, Hardee's, and TGI Fridays have all jumped on the meat-free burger train recently, but MickeyD's chose to wait, says Chris Young, senior director of global menu strategy.
Rather than just adapt one of its existing offerings, McDonald's is building the P.L.T. from scratch to assure the flavors work with the patty.
“We’ve been working on our recipe and now we’re ready to hear feedback from our customers," McDonald’s VP of Global Menu Strategy Ann Wahlgren said in a statement.
According to Food & Wine, the PLT is 460 calories, which is nearly 200 calories less than the BK's Impossible Whopper at 630 calories.
