PICS: Truck carrying 4 times posted weight limit destroys Missouri bridge

WESTPHALIA, Mo. (KMOX) -- No one was injured when a semi-truck trying to cross a bridge it was too big for... tried to cross that bridge.

Missouri Highway Patrol responded Monday afternoon to a one-lane bridge on County Road 611 over the Maries River in Westphalia, in Osage County. Police say the truck was carrying feed and, not including the weight of the truck and the trailer, was hauling 40,000 pounds.

The posted weight limit on the Pentecostal Bridge was 5 tons. In other words, the truck was carrying more than 4 times the limit.
