JEFFERSON CITY, Mo (KMOX) - Around 10,000 Missourians have applied so far to be part of Missouri’s first elk hunt. Joe Jerek with the Missouri Department of Conservation said 5 permits will be awarded through random lottery.
There will be four general permits for the public and one permit reserved for qualifying area landowners.
Applications are accepted from May 1 until May 31 through the Missouri Conservation Department. To apply for an elk permit, applicants must be Missouri residents at least 11 years of age by the first day of the hunt.
