Kurt Warner's career is headed to the big screen in 'American Underdog'

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The football career of Hall of Famer Kurt Warner is going to be told in a biopic called "American Underdog: The Kurt Warner Story."

The faith-based film, directed by the Erwin brothers who also made "Friday Night Lights" and writer David Aaron Cohen writing the script, will hit theaters later this year on Dec. 18.

Warner took the then St. Louis Rams to a Super Bowl victory, won the league's MVP award and  piloted the offense that would go on to be known as the Greatest Show On Turf. The year before that, he was playing in the Arena League.

He won NFL MVP again two years and went to two more Super Bowls in his career, one with the Rams and then took the Arizona Cardinals to their first Super Bowl.
