Multiple police officers shot at in St. Louis city over the weekend

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) -- Two St. Louis Police officers escaped injury Friday night in a drive-by shooting.  The officers were in plain clothes and patrolling in an unmarked vehicle around 8:00 near Emerson and Harney in North St. Louis's Mark Twain neighborhood -- someone driving in a black Mercedes fired shots at them and sped off. 

The officers did not return fire but they recovered the car later when it was involved in an accident.On Saturday, a man police suspected of dealing drugs in North St. Louis is also accused of shooting at an officer. Police say they were investigating gang related activity on Red Bud Avenue a couple of blocks south of West Florissant in the O'Fallon Park neighborhood Saturday afternoon. Officers say they saw the 28-year-old man engaging in a hand to hand transaction, but he ran off when he saw officers approaching. Police say he fired a single gunshot through a sweatshirt pocket, the officer simultaneously tased him and the suspect -- who's not been identified -- fell to the ground. The officer wasn't injured.© 2020 KMOX (Entercom).
