CLAYTON, Mo. (KMOX) — As the state of Missouri opens for business in Phase 1 of Governor Mike Parson's plan on Monday, the wait continues in the St. Louis region.
St. Louis County Executive Sam Page says to ease safety restrictions there needs to be evidence the numbers are coming down. He notes 65-percent of cases in Missouri are in St. Louis County, and a significant number of tests are still coming back positive.
"We do believe we're trending in the right direction," Page stated at his Monday morning media briefing. "We've watched the reports last week, and it appears we've reached the peak. We need to see this trending down (in order to re-open)."
"We will give our businesses guidance on social distancing. We intend that guidance to be similar in the city of St. Louis, and we're working together to determine what that guidance will look like."
