JEFFERSON CITY, Mo (KMOX) - Missouri's top health official says there have been no new reported infections of COVID-19 connected to the large parties in the Lake of the Ozarks throughout Memorial Day weekend.
Director of the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, Dr. Randall Williams was asked on Wednesday if Missouri or any surrounding states have seen new positive cases that may be connected to the parties where social distancing guidelines weren't being followed.
"The answer, to our knowledge, is no," Williams says.
He says Camden County, which includes a majority of the Lake of the Ozarks, was in charge of contact tracing for the one person who tested positive that was at the lake that weekend.
"Camden County, which was the No. 1 county, has not seen any more positives," Williams says. "And that's now been a good while ago."
It's been 11 days since the big parties.
Pictures and videos of crowds at Backwater Jack's Bar and Grill caused major concern across the state. St. Louis County issued a travel advisory, Gov. Mike Parson express his discontent with decisions made by people who attended those parties and Dr. Anthony Fauci of the U.S. pandemic task force said it was "really tempting fate and asking for trouble."
Fauci also said it could as long as three weeks before we know for sure if any new infections were caused by the parties.
The statement from Williams came during Wednesday's press conference with Gov. Parson in Jefferson City.
