ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The GoFundMe pages that have been setup claiming to be raising funds to honor retired police Capt. David Dorn or his family are not associated with St. Louis police or his family, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department says.
A Fundly.com account from Jack Posobiec of OANN has been officially endorsed by Ann Dorn as a legitimate source for donation, according to St. Louis police.
Dorn, 77, was retired from law enforcement and died while watching over his friend's store, Lee’s Pawn & Jewelry. While looting was happening, Dorn "was exercising law enforcement training," says St. Louis Police Cheif John Hayden, then was shot and killed.
Dorn's family says you can make a donation in his name to Crimestoppers or Backstoppers. CrimeStoppers in St. Louis is asking anyone with information on the murder to call 1-866-371-8477. The if the tip leads to an arrest, there's a reward up to $10,000 available.
