A St. Charles auto shop is changing a mother's life

ST. CHARLES, Mo. (KMOX) -  It's a story of giving back to the community in advance of the holiday season. One single mother in the St. Charles area will be getting a car.

Sparks Tire and Auto owner Ron Tinner was a guest on the KMOX Auto Show and said he's toyed with the idea of gifting one for several years. This year the dream is coming true.

"Our goal with this is to change someone's life. If there's a mother out there who has to take public transit to work or has to find rides to and from, it cuts into her finances to try and care for her family. So, we'd like to make her life a bit easier, especially at this time of year."

Tinner acquired a pre-owned car then got NAPA Auto Parts to donate everything his employees needed to make the ride a smooth one.

"It's just worked out perfectly," said NAPA's Joe Spaan. "The car is beautiful. We're just so excited to give this car away to a lucky lady."

The men got the names of the six hopefuls from two womens services agencies in St. Charles, including Bridgeway Womens Center. The winner of the car will be announced Friday at the NAPA store in St. Charles. The other five will also be getting gifts.

In addition to the car, the winner will also have the title and licensing fees taken care of, as well as the initial insurance payment.

Tinner and Spaan say they are committed to making this a yearly giveaway.
