ST. CHARLES, Mo. (KMOX) - The St. Charles City Council has withdrawn a bill that would lower food requirements for bars on North Main Street.
The move came after a closed session Tuesday night.
The bill would've brought the food sales requirement down from 50% to 30%.
Michael Flandermeyer was one of its sponsors.
"By the time we got to the end of the closed session, things were apparent that the language in the bill was just not sufficient to meet the perception of the problem on Main."
Flandermeyer says a new, better bill will be in the works.
Supporters of the current guideline say it makes the area safer and cuts down on underage drinking.
Opponents say it is too restrictive to business.
