ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Has your tap water changed color? The company that supplies water to St. Louis and St. Charles area residents says it's nothing to worry about.

Missouri American Water released a notice to after the City of Maryland Heights started hearing from residents that "their tap water tastes, looks and/or smells weird." The water company says it's due to the heavy rainwater in the Missouri River.

They say the treatments they've been using can cause a "taste and odor may range from a chlorine or chemical to a fishy or earthy musty taste and odor." It may even turn the water "a slight yellow or greenish tint."

American Water assures there are no health risks and expect the water to be back to normal by Monday.
