St. Louis City, County restrict social gatherings to 10 people or less to slow coronavirus exposure

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) updated at 6 p.m. - Both St. Louis City and County are restricting social gatherings to 10 people or fewer. The announcement comes on the same day as the multiple new positive cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in the St. Louis.

County Executive Sam Page issued the order late Wednesday.

Mayor Krewson says the new restriction will go into effect on Friday. This will take the place of the announcement made on Sunday that limited gatherings in St. Louis to 50 people.

"We'll be reevaluating every day," Krewson told reporters when asked how long this new initiative will last. "Every day it seems I'm coming out here and telling you something a little different. I wish that were not the case. I wish we knew all these answers right now and I could tell you and the public exactly what to expect."

When asked about what may be coming next, the mayor says there would have to be more cases of community transmission before the city considers a shelter in place order which is in effect in San Francisco."We hope that by taking the steps we are taking now we don't get there," Krewson said.
