ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Shut down since mid-March, Ted Drewes Frozen Custard's original location might reopen as soon as the middle of next week, if the number of COVID-19 cases in the area continues to drop.
Owner Travis Dillon is making some changes in the line procedures to get ready. They're adding plexiglass partitions on the sides of each ordering window on the street side of its building.

He says lines will only be allowed to form on the sides of the building and customers will be signaled to come around to the front when a window opens up. Everyone in line will also be spread out at least 6 feet apart, he adds.
"We're really working hard on setting it up as Mayor Krewson has asked us to do to keep a safe distance between all of our customers," Dillon says.
Dillon says the Grand Avenue location would re-open "sometime later," depending on how things go on Chippewa Street. He says they won't be publicizing an official opening until they think it's safe to do so.
Another St. Louis staple, Crown Candy reopened its kitchen in north St. Louis this week, for the first time since the end of March.
"It's been a little bit frustrating because I've worked my entire life and most of my employees have worked their entire lives," owner Andy Karandzieff says. "So we all had to kind of adjust to not doing nothing."
They'll be open for curbside and walkup customers only and says they're going to have to "learn how to do everything different."
