ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — Missouri American Water is telling a problem landlord to pay up -- or their tenants' water is getting shut off. Spokesman Brian Russell says TEH Realty -- maligned for dilapidated buildings, rat and bug problems and more -- has until March 12th to pay bills dating back to last August, or residents at the Springwood, Bridgeport Crossing, Crown Manor and Northwinds apartment complexes in St. Louis County will lose water service.
"They owe a significant amount of money and we have been doing everything we can to try to collect that -- from reaching out to them, talking to property owners, office managers -- but we've just not been able to make progress. So, turning off water is the last solution we have."
Russell says it's unfortunate tenants who pay rent on time and expect a certain level of service will be affected -- but it's not fair to paying customers to let such a big client like TEH off the hook.
