ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The generosity of St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright and his family never stops amazing us. The 2019 Roberto Clemente Award nominee hosts an annual fantasy football event that has raised more than $2.5 million for his Big League Impact charity that helps provide clean water for third-world communities around the world, last year they adopted a son and he's partnered with Garth Brooks to support childhood hunger prevention.
Today, they've decided to show some love to minor league baseball players who aren't sure when their next paycheck will come. He and his wife Jenny have donated $250,000 to help provide assistance to players during the COVID-19 pandemic. The donation was made to the More Than Baseball fund, a company that supports the lives of minor league players.

When Spring Training was canceled and the season postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, they lost the paychecks they were expecting to come through the month of March and beyond. All MLB teams are currently paying each player that was in Spring Training camp $400 per week until April 9, but MLB has not announced a plan after that.
