WATCH: Walking St. Louis band performs down neighborhood streets

SOUTH ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — The sounds of a tuba and a trombone could be heard in Tower Grove Park and sometimes in the streets of Tower Grove South.

The two-man brass band, Dominique Burton and Benjamin Kosberg, started out as two bored roommates looking to entertain themselves. Fellow musicians hit the streets with them, bringing cooped up neighbors out of their homes to cheer and applaud. Videos on social media have been liked and shared thousands of times over the last few weeks.

Our Debbie Monterrey caught up with them to get answers to some questions from their new social media following.

Name of their band: Red and Black Brass Band

Can we tip them? Sure, they now have a CashApp under the band name.

Are they practicing social distancing? Dominique and Benjamin are roommates so they live in close proximity, but yes, they are working hard on that with the other band members. Occasionally a car comes and they smoosh together more than they'd like but they are very conscious of it and people's concerns.

Want them to play in your neighborhood? Find them on Facebook at Red and Black Brass Band; on Twitter @RedAndBlackBB; Instagram @redandblackbrassband

This past weekend, they picked up some more members: a trumpet, saxophone and a couple of drummers.

These guys have been entertaining ⁦@TowerGroveSouth⁩ all afternoon. The neighbors are all out cheering and I’m crying #STLCity #citystrong pic.twitter.com/guN2P4Gqqj

Their tunes brought neighbors out onto their porches to listen, cheer and applaud, including our own Debbie Monterrey. She talked about the band on Total Information A.M. Monday morning with Michael Calhoun:
